I downloaded three podcasts from CreatingAFamily.org to listen to in the car when I'm running around town. I've listed each below with a small summary and my reviews, check them out for yourself.
1.) Foods and Diet That Can Increase Your Fertility Dr. Jeffrey Russell, Director of the Delaware Institute and Reproductive Medicine, and the leading researcher on diet on fertility and fertility treatment talks about his findings on protein and carbohydrates and their affects on egg/embryo quality. He found that even though his patients were young and thin they had poor egg quality. When he looked into their diet he noticed it was mainly carbohydrates. He modified their diets to include more than 30% protein and 40% or less carbohydrates. These women then had twice amount of embryos available for IVF transfer and 4 x the pregnancy rate. His last point is that although we have all the eggs we will ever have from birth, eggs come out of dormancy 2.5 to 3 months and the fluid that surrounds the egg is what can be modified by diet. This fluid can positively or negatively affect the egg/embryo quality, so to positively change this fluid you just need to increase protein and decrease carbs. My Rating ★★★★. I loved this podcast and wish I had heard this at the beginning of my 90 day infertility challenge. I feel like I most likely eat this way anyway but would have looked into the ratios from the beginning. Now I will modify if necessary. |
