I've heard time after time breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You need to eat a well rounded breakfast so that you can start your day off right and not set yourself up for failure. I have always been a big proponent of these statements but with my fertility challenge I make sure my breakfast is well rounded. I eat an egg, two organic sausages, some sort of green, a small side of oatmeal, and a cup of green tea. My Favorite Oatmeal Recipe:

The whole premise behind the 90 Day Infertility Challenge, besides walking away from my last IVF cycle the June with no regrets, is that our eggs actually come out of dormancy 3 months before we use them. I found the best website Natural Infertility Health with an article and diagram to explain this. During this 90 day period before an egg is ovulated, the eggs are changing and preparing for ovulation. During the tonic growth phase and protein syntheses between 90 and 20 days prior to ovulation (see the yellow section of the image below) the eggs are able to be affected, by both healthy or unhealthy influences. The eggs can be affected by blood flow, proper oxygenation, hormonal balance, nutritional intake, and stress. The article goes on to explain how we can address each of these areas. Like I have said in the in other areas of this blog when I did a similar 90 day cleanse during IVF#3 I had by far the best results of my four rounds of IVF. Image from www.Natural-Fertility-Info.com
I made it through the first four days easily and am so much happier than I have been in the last few months. It's really nice to have a 90 day plan mapped out. Check out my gluten free, soy free, dairy free meal calendar filed under the Calendars tab. Having meals mapped out allows me to plan my grocery shopping in advance. And while I may not stick exactly to the calendar, I am reminded of the recipes that I researched so I won't deviate from my diet. In order to make this obtainable to others as well, I have posted several of the recipes under the Recipe tab with links to the websites where I found them. I only post the recipes that I have tried and like, so you don't have to worry about it not tasting good.
As for my physical health, I have set up an activity calendar to help hold myself accountable to working out, scheduling acupuncture, and therapy. My BMI is well within the healthy range and I have normal menstrual cycles, so I am not trying to lose weight with exercise but rather reduce stress and improve blood flow with yoga, and the same thing with walking. In order to get my sleep back on track, which is always messed up from the fertility drugs, I get in bed around 10 and read until 11. While I am still not falling asleep for awhile after I turn the light off, I am falling asleep earlier making the mornings much easier. Before I start my 5th and last IVF retrieval, I have decided that I must throw everything at this and walk away with no regrets. In order to do that I am going through my own 90 day infertility challenge. I want to end this journey knowing that I have helped all aspects of my life: mental, diet, supplementation, acupuncture, and exercise for three months because our eggs actually come out of dormancy three months before we use them. I will be posting calendars to show my diet and exercise plans, links to the studies that I have found regarding supplementation, and anything I can find to help with the mental aspect of all of this.
Please read the "My Journey" page to find out information on my infertility journey thus far for a better understanding of what I have been through. I have done numerous IUI and IVF cycles, and tests but the best IVF cycle thus far was when I followed a similar diet/supplementation routine making me believe that this will in fact help us again. |
