I've heard time after time breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You need to eat a well rounded breakfast so that you can start your day off right and not set yourself up for failure. I have always been a big proponent of these statements but with my fertility challenge I make sure my breakfast is well rounded. I eat an egg, two organic sausages, some sort of green, a small side of oatmeal, and a cup of green tea. My Favorite Oatmeal Recipe:

So for an afternoon snack I always have a fertility smoothie. There are so many fertility smoothie recipes on the internet so you can easily find one that caters towards your taste. Here is my recipe, click the links for the actual products I use:
I love having a healthy gluten free, dairy free lunch in freezer bags so I can pull it out of the freezer and thaw it in a bowl of hot water in a pinch. I just tried this soup for the first time today and it was so delicious. I topped it with a half of an avocado and a couple of crushed tortilla chips for some crunch. To make the soup just add the ingredients below to a crock pot and set to High for 3 to 4 hours. I was able to get this all put together in ten minutes this morning and when I got home at 1:30 lunch was waiting for me. This recipe is modified from my favorite gluten free website Once a Month Meals, Chicken Taco Soup. I have added it to my recipes page.
So today was hard...we woke up with 4 inches of snow on the ground and it continued to snow until 6pm. I think we walked away with 10 inches. That meant I wasn't able to leave the house to go to the grocery store and buy all of the stuff I needed for my recipes. Luckily I had some Paleo Kale Turkey Burgers from my favorite gluten free website Once a Month Meals left over so I had that for lunch and I cut up a potato and cooked it in some olive oil with onion and garlic and a ton of kale. I posted the Paleo Kale Turkey Burgers under my recipe tab. I still had enough fruit for my afternoon smoothy. Today is Thursday, which is normally date night for us, so we would have gone to Honey Grow a local salad shop and then done something fun after like yoga or rock climbing. Since we were snowed in I scrounged for dinner, we had gluten free pancakes, organic eggs, homemade hash browns with onions and red peppers, and organic bacon. So my diet didn't have as many veggies as I would have liked but I'm not going to worry about it. I also forgot to make the pancakes with coconut milk instead of real milk so I had a bit of dairy tonight as well. Can't wait for spring, just two more weeks. I made it through the first four days easily and am so much happier than I have been in the last few months. It's really nice to have a 90 day plan mapped out. Check out my gluten free, soy free, dairy free meal calendar filed under the Calendars tab. Having meals mapped out allows me to plan my grocery shopping in advance. And while I may not stick exactly to the calendar, I am reminded of the recipes that I researched so I won't deviate from my diet. In order to make this obtainable to others as well, I have posted several of the recipes under the Recipe tab with links to the websites where I found them. I only post the recipes that I have tried and like, so you don't have to worry about it not tasting good.
As for my physical health, I have set up an activity calendar to help hold myself accountable to working out, scheduling acupuncture, and therapy. My BMI is well within the healthy range and I have normal menstrual cycles, so I am not trying to lose weight with exercise but rather reduce stress and improve blood flow with yoga, and the same thing with walking. In order to get my sleep back on track, which is always messed up from the fertility drugs, I get in bed around 10 and read until 11. While I am still not falling asleep for awhile after I turn the light off, I am falling asleep earlier making the mornings much easier. |
